Guide
Universities and scholarship committees read hundreds of profiles. This is what actually distinguishes one, and how to build it from Class 9 without a budget.
Last reviewed by the Jenedu editorial team.
Two years in one activity with visible progression says more than eight certificates from eight one-day events. Committees are reading for commitment and evidence of growth, not for volume.
Pick one academic strand, one creative or service strand, and stop there. A profile with two strong lines is easier to write about than one with twelve weak ones.
Reconstructing two years of achievements a week before a deadline is where most strong students lose marks that were already earned.
Examples shown on Jenedu are illustrative unless a page states otherwise, and are labelled as such. We do not publish invented student results or testimonials — a made-up success story helps nobody and misleads the students it is aimed at.
Start with one thing this month that produces evidence: enter a competition, publish a small project, or commit to a weekly volunteer slot. In nine months that is a genuine line on an application; in nine days it is nothing. The only bad time to begin is later.
